Windchill

I’ve recently discovered that the news’ weather forecasts’ percentages don’t mean what I thought they meant.  They don’t mean that there is a 40% chance of rain on Wednesday.  They mean that 40% of their viewers should experience rain on Wednesday…I think.

Windchill calculations are also apparently just as confusing.  Each country gets to set their own version of the windchill factor, based on cold it “feels” outside, and it all started with some folks seeing how fast water bottles would freeze in Antarctica before WW2.  Regardless, it was COLD this morning with a “windchill of -1.”  Cold.  So cold that Jack Frost made a visit recently, and  I love finding his designs on old windows – graphic, dendritic, and blooming all at the same time:
