Work smart. Not hard. Right?

I got a hair cut last week and I found this video.  It has been a good week.  I’ve never been a bigger Mike Rowe fan.

See what I did there? bigger-micro?

Cat Saturday

It took him all of two and half minutes to figure out we’d finally turned on the heat.

Burgers, Beer, and Baby Talk

We had the distinct honor of hosting a baby shower for some of our very best friends recently.  The blurry photos are all my fault, but here they are anyway.  Also, the worst part about baby showers is that the baby isn’t here yet.  We’d very much like to meet her, so we wish she’d hurry up just a little :)

Snaggletooth Christmas

Today is a two post kind of day.  In addition to the usual stuff Mondays come up with, I came across two additional bits of good news.

1. We’re most of the way through October (this means Halloween will be over soon – worthless holiday) so it is practically November.  This means Christmas is next month.  Importantly, this means it is almost the time of year when it is appropriate to liberate my holiday mug from the cupboard and switch it in as my daily tea mug at the office.  They’ll be so pleased.

I understand some folks may not yet be feeling as festive as I am.

This should help: “O Holy Night” by Jennifer Nettles and John Legend.  Three and a half minutes of goosebumps.

2. This diagram lays out the reality that was bad news for Duke, good news for me: my cat is now a bone fide snaggletooth. grays peek

Duke was gifted with a few saber tooth cat genes in his mix, and his canines (felines, sorry) hang noticeably out of his mouth.  He is now one canine short and will be a celebrity.

McGlasson’s

We got our pumpkin at McGlasson’s this year.  It is not a carving pumpkin, but one of those fancy Martha Stewart-esque pumpkins that is half green, shaped like a Krispy Kreme cruller, and looks lovely and dignified sitting on our porch next to the mums.   McGlasson’s has plenty of pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns, too, but I just don’t find pumpkin carving to be a favorite activity…so I avoid it.

The farm is on the river just a bit out on Ky. 8.  If you’re looking for it, they probably have it: apples, carmel apples, tomatoes, squash, corn, cider, Amish cheese, pick your own pumpkins, mums, music – pretty much anything you’d need for Fall.  Our good friends introduced us to it and it would’ve been a perfect Fall outing had it not been 85 degrees.  I am officially finished with this year’s Indian Summer.

Phone photos from the farm and our friends’ beautiful family:

This so-so gooseneck squash was eventually rejected as my gourd of choice; the Martha pumpkin won out.
